Ken Barnes remembers Anderton's bottling plant being located in the centre of Skipton where the bus station now is, opposite the Strata nightclub.
We'd like to thank everyone who suggested that this wasn't a roofing pin at all but, with the tapered end fixed into a wooden handle, would form a useful branding iron. I must admit that at first I wasn't convinced; the business-end is only about half-an-inch across, too small surely to brand an animal ? Then one of the members of our group said that there was something similar in the museum in Skipton and that it had been used to brand the horns of sheep, as a security marker. Mystery solved ?
